How to create a Telegram bot with ChatGPT — no coding required

Even if you can't code, you can build the Telegram bot you need entirely with the help of AI. This guide is for people who don't know how to program, from start to finish.

Steps

1. Be clear about what you need

To give the AI a precise task, you first need to know what the bot should do: for example, "a bot that takes orders from customers and notifies the admin" or "a bot that counts how many people joined the channel".

2. Pick a ready-made task

The Prompt library has several ready-made bot ideas with complete task descriptions (event registration, channel growth tracker, support bot, etc.). Pick the one closest to what you need — and edit the text to fit if necessary.

3. Give the prompt to the AI

Copy the whole task, paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and send it. The AI returns several files (main.py, requirements.txt, .env.example) with the full code.

4. Save each file

Create a new folder on your computer (e.g. "my_bot") and save every file the AI returned into it with exactly the same names (e.g. main.py) — no need to change the code, just copy it.

5. Get a token from BotFather

Follow the steps in Getting a token to get a token for your bot.

6. Zip the folder

Archive the folder containing all the files — Preparing a ZIP has instructions for your device.

7. Upload to Botxona

In the dashboard, click "New bot", choose the ZIP file and enter the token.

8. If there's an error — send the logs back to the AI

If the check comes back yellow or red, copy the "AI fix prompt" below the report and send it back to the AI in the same conversation — it will explain what needs fixing and give you updated code. More: Reading the check results.

Why does this work?

Botxona's requirements (token from an environment variable, data in DATA_DIR, etc. — the 6 rules) are precise and standard, so modern AI models follow them on the first try almost every time — especially if you include the rules in the task (every task in the Prompt library already does).

What next?

Once the bot is running, read the dashboard tour and learn how to track your analytics. If you need to change the bot or add a feature, ask in the same AI conversation — "now add this too" — and upload the new code again.

FAQ

What if the code the AI gave me doesn't work?

Copy the full error message (the logs) and send it back to the AI — in most cases it will figure out the cause and return a fixed version. More: Reading logs.

Do I have to regenerate everything to add a feature?

No — just ask in the same AI conversation to "add [feature name] to the existing code", and the AI will change only the relevant part.
